Welcome to my homepage
I work as a playwright, screenwriter and stage-director and live in Bergen. These pages contains information about projects I am working on, projects I have finished/participated in, initiated (not the least) - just pick and choose. I am writing for grown ups and for children, I am writing in big and small formats - with a certain affection for letting the first be the foremost; the big canvas, the broad strokes. As in 60 persons on stage - and if you like, outside and around - 70 - 80, choir and orchestra no hindrance. There is nothing more fun than that. Nothing more expensive either. All stories don´t need Grand Resources to be told, however. On the contrary. It is a matter of listening to what the story really needs to become alive. I have had to learn the art of limitation. Something extremely useful for a playwright...
Stories
are my main interest as a playwright. Additionally to show them as a stage-director, whether it takes place on a stage, in an alley or out in the fields. Or on a screen. I am now writing on a screenplay called Phoenix. I find working with film just as appealing as the theater. Different. Other stories. What gives me the most profound joy is when I am able to move your feelings in the audience - for laughter or for tears, preferably both. Then the story has been given life in you. Too. And has become Ours.
Lately
that is, over the last years, I have mostly worked with film. As in writing Phoenix - a Family Ghost Story for children with Barentsfilm and DuoFIlm as producers. Here I have the pleasure to play with both film and theatre, as the story takes place in an old theatre.
Nordnes Now or Never is a 10 episodes' tv-series about a psychic, female priest in a church called Nykirken in Bergen. I've come quite far on that project as well. Now I wait impatiently with a 1. episode's Pilot and rather thourough treatments and synopsis on the 9 others.
I have also engaged in making half hour long fictions with and for small children, on behalf of a local art project, the cultural child carrier. At this side of the millenium, 7 in number so far.
I have done a couple of websites last year, something that feeds the nerd in me, as well as my aesthetic sense, not to mention the joy of communicating. This has opened my eyes for transmedia - which really has caught my interest lately, so who knows...?
